My mother passed away while Mara was in the middle of her studies to become an R.N. She powered through and graduated. She had been working at Perkins School for the Blind and Deaf for as long as I could remember, so when she graduated it was no wonder that they hired her right away to be a nurse at the school. She has long been an avid fan of documentaries and has also been an excellent photographer (though she will argue otherwise). Her students love her, she remains friends with so many of them after they graduate.
Aside from her graduating from school after losing our mom, I have to say that I have never been so proud to be her sister. This project, Teach Me How to Sea is amazing and deserves all the funding it can get.
Please do yourself a favor and these 20 kids going on a cruise a favor and check out the kickstarter and support it.
Her students are hilarious, intelligent and wonderful kids. I have had the pleasure of meeting them when we go back home and visit.
I am so excited to see the film and get some amazing phone calls from the cruise ship. Right?
